In the Eyes of Valverde, Messi Remains World’s Best Player
FC Barcelona coach, Ernesto Valverde, assess Lionel Messi remains the best player universal without winning the Ballon d’Or.
Messi became one of the strong candidates winning the Ballon d’Or title which is the World Player of the Year award thanks to his services deliver Barca to the ladder Copa del Rey 2016-2017.
He closed the season with the addition of one individual award, the European Golden Shoe.
In the race for the Ballon d’Or, the captain of the Argentine national team was facing a tough challenge from his rival, Cristiano Ronaldo, who successfully won the Spanish League and Champions League trophy with Real Madrid.
In the eyes of Valverde, Messi still deserve the best seal even later lost in the struggle for the golden ball trophy.
“Everyone knows who is the best player of the world, namely Messi,” said the skipper as quoted from FourFourTwo.
“I do not care if he gets the Ballon d’Or or any other award, my opinion remains the same,” Valverde said.
Only Messi and Ronaldo are taking turns podium champion Ballon d’Or in the last nine years.
Messi still excel with a collection of five trophies, while Ronaldo four.
